It begins and ends at Entebbe International Airport, with the first night spent either in Entebbe itself or in Kampala, and the middle of the trip based at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park on the Virunga range.
One full morning is given to the trek itself, following a guide into the bamboo until a troop is found. The rest of that day is left open for walking trails, looking for birds, or calling on the Batwa community who live beside the park. The return drive to Entebbe fills the final day.

Day 1
Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
A representative of the company meets you in the arrivals hall at Entebbe International Airport and helps you through the immigration formalities. You are then driven to your hotel, which may be in Entebbe or up the road in Kampala. The remainder of the day is yours to rest and settle in.

Day 2
Drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Breakfast is followed by the long road journey southwest to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, a small protected area known for its rare monkeys, with farmland and village life passing the window. You reach the park in time to settle into your lodge or campsite and to eat lunch. The afternoon is spent walking near the park so that your body adapts to the height, with the Virunga volcanoes in view.

Day 3
Golden Monkey Trekking at Mgahinga
After an early breakfast you report for the golden monkey trek, which is the reason the trip exists. These monkeys occur nowhere except the Virunga chain, so Mgahinga is one of very few places they can be watched, and a guide leads the group into the bamboo, listening for their calls and looking for flashes of gold in the canopy. Time is spent with the troop once it has been found, and the guide explains how the species is being protected. The afternoon is free for a nature walk, for birding, or for a visit to the Batwa community beside the park.

Day 4
Back to Entebbe for Departure
Breakfast at the lodge comes before you leave Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and begin the long drive back. The same hills and roadside communities pass by on the return leg. At Entebbe a member of the company team hands you over at the airport in time for your flight home.
