Day 1
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Gorilla Trek
The day begins before dawn, because the drive from Kabale or Kisoro to the park headquarters takes one to two hours. After an early breakfast and a briefing from the guide, travellers set off for Bwindi with snacks packed for the day. A second briefing follows at the park headquarters, and by 8am each visitor is placed in a trekking group and assigned a gorilla family to follow with a trained park ranger. The search through the forest can run anywhere between two and six hours, though only one hour is permitted with the gorillas themselves, enough time to photograph them and watch how they feed, behave and interact. Lunch follows the trek, after which the driver returns the group to Kabale or Kisoro.
