Tranquil Safaris builds this four day trip around the two different ways of spending time with mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, one after the other. The second day is the ordinary trek, an hour with a family that is fully habituated, with the rest of the afternoon free for the lodge or for a visit to the Batwa community. The third day moves to the Rushaga sector, in the south of the park, where the habituation experience runs and where Tranquil sets the time with the gorillas at four hours.
The trip then changes pace. From Rushaga it transfers to Lake Bunyonyi for the night, and the final morning is a boat ride out among the islands, with the terraced hills standing over the water, before the long drive back to Kampala. The outbound day is a full day on the road with the usual stop at the equator, and Tranquil publishes lodge options at four levels for each night, so the same route can be run simply or run well.

Day 1
Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
A Tranquil Safaris guide collects the guest from a residence or from the airport, runs through the plan for the trip, and sets off southwest. The company puts the drive at around nine hours. There is a stop at the equator for photographs and the demonstration of how water turns on either side of the line, and lunch is taken on the road. Arrival at the lodge is in the evening, with check in and dinner. Tranquil lists budget, moderate, luxury and exclusive lodge options for the night.

Day 2
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi
Breakfast is early, then a short drive to the park headquarters for the trekking briefing. A ranger guide leads the walk into the forest and, as Tranquil puts it, the trek can last two hours or well over four, because it depends entirely on where the family has moved to. The visit itself is the standard hour. The afternoon is left open: rest at the lodge, or go out to the Batwa community for the cultural walk that the trip includes. Dinner and a second night at the lodge.

Day 3
Gorilla habituation in Rushaga, then Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast the party leaves for the Rushaga sector, in the southern part of Bwindi, which is where habituation is carried out. The four hours spent with the family are the point of the day, and the longer contact time is what makes it possible to watch a group that is still being accustomed to people rather than one that is already used to visitors. Lunch follows, and then the transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, where the guest checks in, eats and rests for the night.

Day 4
Boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi and return to Kampala
The guide takes the guest down to the water after breakfast for a boat ride out among the islands, with the stories that go with each of them, the birds on the shoreline and the terraced hillsides rising behind. The boat is followed by the drive back to Kampala, with lunch on the way, arriving in the late evening at the address the guest has chosen.
