Five days based at a luxury river lodge on the southern bank inside Murchison Falls National Park, reached by light aircraft from Entebbe. The centrepiece is the waterfall itself, where the whole of the Nile is forced through a gorge seven metres wide, seen first by boat from below and then on foot from the top. The rest of the trip divides between game drives on the Buligi peninsula for elephant, Rothschild’s giraffe, lion and oribi, and a slow boat through the papyrus delta in search of shoebill. Day 1
Entebbe to Murchison
The trip north is by light aircraft, flying over the Victoria Nile on the way. Travellers going by road instead can break the drive at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The day ends with sundowners on a private deck above the river.

Day 2
The Falls, Top and Bottom
The morning boat run approaches Murchison Falls from below, finishing at the foot of the drop. A guided hike then climbs to the top of the falls, where the whole river is forced through a gap and the ground carries the vibration.

Day 3
Big Game on the North Bank
A day of game drives across the Buligi peninsula on the northern bank. Elephant, Rothschild's giraffe, lion and oribi are the animals to look for. The Blue Mountains of Congo stand on the western horizon.

Day 4
The Nile Delta and the Shoebill
The boat moves at walking pace through the papyrus of the Nile delta, watching for shoebill, the heavy prehistoric-looking stork the delta is known for. Large herds come down to drink along the water's edge while the boat moves through.

Day 5
Return to Entebbe
A last dawn over the river before the flight south. The trip ends at Entebbe for onward connections.
