Day 1
Gorilla Trekking In Bwindi From Kabale Or Kisoro
Your driver guide collects you at 6:00 am after an early breakfast at your hotel in either Kabale or Kisoro and transfers you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, timed to reach park headquarters for the briefing. Trekkers are put into groups of eight, though in quieter seasons a party may be only two, three or four people, and you should carry enough drinking water and a packed lunch or snacks because the walk is hard and can run from one to eight hours depending on where the gorillas have moved. Rangers take you into the rainforest to begin the search; a walking stick helps, reasonable fitness is needed, and rain coats and boots are worth packing because the weather turns without warning. Porters can be hired to carry your bag. Once the gorillas are in sight the rangers show you how to behave around them, chiefly by keeping six metres back while you watch, after which you return to park headquarters and take the road back to Kabale or Kisoro.
