Day 1
Kampala to the southern sector of Bwindi
An Insight Safari Holidays representative collects the guest from their accommodation at seven in the morning, runs through what the habituation day will involve, and sets off. The company puts the drive at about 540 kilometres and nine hours to the southern sector of the park. There is a stop at the equator for photographs and the water experiment, and a second at Mbarara for lunch. The road passes Lake Mburo National Park, where zebra and impala are often grazing within sight of it. Arrival is in the evening, and the night is spent quietly at the hotel.

Day 2
Gorilla habituation day
After an early breakfast the party transfers to the briefing point and then on to the start of the trek. Insight is direct about what the day asks of a person: the forest is dense and steep and the walk can run from three hours to the whole day, so reasonable fitness matters. Depending on the allocation, the trek may set out from the park headquarters or from a point already well inside the forest. Once the family is found, up to four hours are spent with them, and photographs and video are allowed. Feeding the gorillas and using a flash are both forbidden. The walk back out closes the day.

Day 3
Return to Kampala or Entebbe
A relaxed breakfast, then the drive back north with lunch on the road and a stop at the equator for anyone who missed it on the way down. Guests are dropped at their hotel in Kampala or Entebbe, or taken straight to the airport if they are flying out that evening.
